    Hey there!

I just picked up a new 9-cell battery for my XPS M1330. I wanted to be able to get a little more juice from my laptop at school.
After putting it in however my battery meter shows that unplugged I have about 2 hours of power which is dead on with my 6-cell battery. Is there something I should have reset when switching the battery in Vista?

    Any ideas?

    Thanks!

First of all, was the battery fully charged when you first installed it? It may have had a full charge out of the factory and lost some of it over time.

Second, is this a genuine Dell battery? If it's some cheap Chinese knockoff, I wouldn't be surprised that the maximum capacity is on par with with 6-Cell.

The battery was about half charged when I first installed it. It's been charged fully since that point.
    It's authentic dell. :(

I bought a new 9-cell battery for my M1330 a few weeks ago. When you first receive the new battery, completely charge the battery with the laptop off. Then run the laptop on battery power only until it shuts off. Do this cycle 2 more times and at least once a month thereafter to keep your battery performing at peak level. The Windows battery gauge can get confused by new batteries and new battery capacities so the charge/discharge cycle will help with that as well. Once I did that, I can play WoW for 2+ hours on my new 9-cell battery or surf the net for 5+ hours.
