So last night I was browsing the internet on google chrome and all of a sudden the computer started freezing and it said Skype toolbar or something had stopped responding so I killed it and then the entire computer froze and eventually had a blue screen come up with a bunch of text I didn't really have time to read and then the computer shut down.
Since this I cannot boot my computer - I hit the power button and it turns on, the DELL screen comes up and loads, then it goes to Windows Starting screen and gets stuck there no matter what I do.
I've tried Startup repair and it couldn't find a problem, tried restoring it to an earlier date but I had to reinstall W7 a while back and lost the CD key so it's not registered anymore and therefore didn't have any system restore points, I've tried starting it in safe mode and it freezes loading that as well...
Not really sure what else to do, I'm not that great with computers. I'm buying a new computer soon so it's not the biggest deal if I can't fix it but I would like to get it back up and running so I can transfer all my files over and such.
If anyone has any ideas, I'd really appreciate it.

Anyone? I messed around with it a bit more and ran diagnostics and got error code 2000-0146 which from what I've read sounds like failing hard drive.

Tsunade_Hime such bacon. wow
Okay what I would do;
Remove the hard drive ( instructions via the Dell Service Manual) and get an enclosure/USB adapter and connect it via another computer. Try to retrieve your data first.
If it is showing corrupt, try running chkdsk /r <your disk letter minus carats>. This will verify the integrity of your drive.
Worst case scenario, you are unable to get data at all, it is clicking or everything is corrupt. In that case, you would need to ship it off to data recovery specialists.
In any case, I would replace the drive even if you manage to get your data, hard drives are dirt cheap these days anyway. The XPS M1330 will take any 2.5" 9mm notebook SATA drive. You can get a 5400 rpm 500 GB for ~50-55 bucks these days, sometimes even a 7200 rpm if there is a special sale.
Good luck, hope this helps. -
That helps a lot, thank you. I can buy an enclosure for $15 and a hardrive for $45 so for $60 it's worth a try and then even if it doesn't work I can sell the laptop or whatever.
