    Hi All,
i'm attempting to fit a Dell 5530 WWAN card in my Dell XPS M1330. Could someone advise which cables to attach where?

There are 3 available cables, a blue, grey/white and black/white but on the 5530 there are 2 connections: main and aux. The blue cable will not reach to the main connection.

    Thanks for any pointers

Use the same wires from your original wifi card and put them in the same position on your 5300 card and use the gray wire for the middle contact.

If the WLAN card has two triangles on the label (white and black), connect the white antenna cable to the connector labeled "main" (white triangle), and connect the black antenna cable to the connector labeled "aux" (black triangle).
If the WLAN card has three triangles on the label (white, black, and gray), connect the white antenna cable to the white triangle, connect the black antenna cable to the black triangle, and connect the gray antenna cable to the gray triangle.
[IMG] NOTE: The gray antenna cable may not be available in all computers. The presence of the gray antenna cable in your Mini Card compartment depends upon the type of display.

oops my bad..correct details below :)

Hi BR, thanks for your reply.

It's a 3G HSDPA WWAN card i'm trying to fit which is in addition to my WiFi card.

The card has two connectors with a white triangle and a black triangle. There are 3 "spare" leads available, the blue lead, white/black lead, and grey/white lead.

Are you suggesting that I connect the white/grey lead to the white triangle and the white/black lead to the black triangle? I think I tried that combination but still didn't get any signal (I have the correct drivers installed).

I'll try again and report back my findings (with photos if it's easier)

    Thanks

I'm every so sorry here is the info
Connect the black antenna cable with a gray stripe to the connector labeled "aux" (black triangle), and connect the white antenna cable with a gray stripe to the connector labeled "main" (white triangle).

Also have you fitted your sim card and the software not just the drivers?

@traveller I and many have indicated the use of this blue wire many times before in the M1330 & M1530 XPS threads and service manuals, I just thought that you were on the ball with the M1330 XPS :D not to worry.

    Ouch!
I'd like to think I know my 1330 and fwiw, I have the "full" service manual. I checked it prior to posting my question (I'm not a noob, after all  ) and it describes the Mini-Card slot "CRUs" as WLAN, WWAN and Flash Cache Module.

But there's not a word about CWUSB.

p.s. My WLAN card is a draft-n version and has three connectors. The svc manual however indicates that the "grey" cable's for draft-n. Well guess what, we have no grey cable, only the blue one... however I do recall a few posts indicating that the two panels on offer (LED & std) have a different set of antennas... how's that for on the ball... ;)

I have found this a very good forum to get Windows 7 64 Pro installed on my XPS M1330 and have most things working.

I also have a WWAN 5530 card installed but cannot get it to work in Windows 7 64. I have tried many drivers off the Dell Driver site but it either installs and have no problems showing in the device manager but will not recognise the card in Network manager (have not installed a manager program as I have read elswhere that Windows 7 will recognise it without a manager program).

    or

When I try to install windows 7 64 specific drivers it fails half way through the installation saying that the WWAN 5540 card is not supported in the laptop. It is definitely a 5530 card.

What driver and manager program did you install to get it working? If someone could point me to the necessary info would be greatly appreciated. Also do I need to clean up the old drivers and registry before installing the new drivers?

The broadband card is supplied by Dell for its Mini 9 Netbooks so you can download the app & driver directly from Dell.

In order to get the GPS component working, follow these instructions.
