I need to replace the LCD on my M1330, I have never replaced an LCD panel in a laptop before but upon researching it seems it should be simple enough..

I currently have a Chi Mei (CMO1309) but upon researching replacement screens on this site, have decided to purchase the Samsung panel part code (tm107)

My question is, will the inverter I currently have work for the new panel ??

    Thanks,

The current inverter should work for that panel without an issue.
I regularly replace LCD screens in laptops, and I'll warn you... the M1330 is probably the most painful replacement I've done.

Thanks for the reply Hep, the instructions for the replacement seem pretty straight forward, do you have any tips to help make the replacement less painful ?

Be really careful removing the display bezel - it's very fragile. Pay close attention to the routing of the cables (wireless, signal, etc) before you pull them, they're annoying to place back.

I think the easiest way to do is to remove only display bazel if he hasn't planes to change the cables. I did like that for 4 screens replacements without any issues. Just remove the bazel, remove 6 screws which hold the screen, put the screen on it face side on the keyboard, pull off the cables which are located on back side of the screen for the LCD and the inverter the and do it the same in opposite way with the new one. No problems, no troubles...good luck

Ok, I recieved the screen yesterday and did the install, HEP was correct, cable routing is a pain, and the bezel does appear to be very fragile, however all went well on the disassembly. I ordered the panel from LCD Express via Ebay, and they sent the wrong panel, I recieved the Toshiba LTD133ewdd panel, and after installing and putting everything back together this panel did not work. I disassembled, and reassembled making sure everything was connected and it still did not work so I will be sending this Toshiba panel back.

Just a note, upon disassembly, the only cables connected to the current ChiMei were the inverter/lcd cable which plugs into the inverter then routes to under the keyboard, I did not have any cables plugged into the back of the LCD panel.

Does anyone know of any compatibilty issues with the Toshiba model listed ? (LTD133EWDD)

Mirage, your description definetly sounds like the easiest, open the screen as far as it will open, remove the control board, and remove the bezel. I will try this approach when I order another panel..

    Thanks,

If that long ribbon cable was not attached to the LCD, try connecting it to the old panel... that might be the problem you had all along.

There is no long ribbon cable, and no place to attach it to on the back of either panel. only cable is the one from the inverter to the lcd plug in under the keyboard.. Old panel works fine except for some screen damage which is why I want to replace it..

When I installed the Toshiba panel and fired up the laptop I only gave it about 2 mins.. maybe a stupid question but it should start right up correct ? there is no "warmup" period for a new LCD is there ?? just a thought..

I think you're misunderstanding, but okay.
All LCD panels will have a cable on the back.

Ok, I am confused now, there is no ribbon cable on the back of either the Chi Mei monitor, nor the Toshiba monitor. Ive seen the ribbon cable in the instruction manual, and in various documentation on how to replace these panels. Do i need to take the back off the panel to reveal the cable ? When I removed the Chi Mei i did not have to remove anything but cable from the inverter to the system.

That cable only carries AC power from the inverter to the lamp, and it is impossible for it to carry any video signal.
The fact that you have any image on screen baffles me, which is why I figure we are just mis communicating, and the cable is there all along.

Ive attached a photo of the rear of the Toshiba panel, again, from the dell manual, and from other photo's ive seen there should be a plug on the back, however the only plug is on the bottom on the inverter.. The Chi Mei panel looks exactly the same on the back.. Am I missing something, do I need to take the back of the panel off to reveal the backlight power ?

    Thanks

I don't remember from when I did it, but you're probably fine if both screens are that way. It's just a non standard design.

I'm also looking to install an M1330 LED screen (broke it with water i think). Was the toshiba LTD133EWDD really the wrong model?

    Hi
I buy a used XPS m1330, I find that the mic do not work. I dissembled the LCD and fined that the camera/mic cable is little bit bracken and I find that the three cables (WLAN + camera/mic + display) are not routed in a proper way (as Hep said they're annoying to place back).
I checked dell service manual but they only have a picture for the other side.
Are there anyone have a photo for these cable properly routed with hinge ( I need a picture shows the three cables routing after removing the display bezel).
    Thanks for all.
