I am trying to fix a XPS M150 laptop. When it boots the screen has an orange
tint and then goes black. You can heart the system sounds so it is booting.

There was a post on the net suggesting letting it boot and then pressing control -F1 to put it in to hibernation and then reboot. This worked once when I also hit control F-8 ,the LCD switch and booted into windows . Several times it started to but never made it past the boot screen very far.

When I did get it to boot the one time I checked the resolution and it was already at 1280 x 800 as this post suggested , Dell XPS M1210 Blank Screen Problem The Amazing World of Don Dueck

When I hit ok and right clicked the screen it went black again. I really don't think that had anything to do with it because it would not work with another hard drive running Linux.

I decided to clean contacts so I used my pink eraser on the additional memory chip and then pulled the access cover from over the modem and there is a white plug that connects to the board that is loose and I see no where to plug it in. Looking at the picture in the link below the white plug I am referring to is in the bottom left of the picture just below the modem. It is marked as # 4. (System Board Connector} and from the pic it looks like there are some more parts missing in the area to the right of the plug . The black screw and everything behind it is missing. Someone must have messed with it .

The Mini-PCI card (wireless} is not in the pic, if it helps you to visualize it look at this pic. Documentation

If anyone could tell me what should be there it would be greatly appreciated.

    TIA
