I am trying to connect the laptop to Plasma TV using HDMI cable. The Picture quality looks great on TV. But there is no audio. Can some one help me how to receive the audio signal on TV. Thanks.

Right click on the speaker icon in the system tray, select Playback Devices then click on HDMI and click "Set Default" and start your audio app again.

Nvidia can't do true HDMI Buy ATI for that, I wish I had one...... To bad for us. Just use your headphone jack with ol'school RCA's.

Picture will be sub par as well, nothing we can do.

You could get a Creative X-fi expresscard ($65 from Dell...cheapest you can get) and use S/PDIF from there to get a lot of surround sound...just not the newest (according to Wikipedia).

Try putting your computer to sleep and then waking it back up w/ HDMI set as default. I know it sounds weird, but that is what I have had to do a couple times in order to get the audio on my M1330 to switch over to HDMI for my LCD TV.

    Hey the solution is:

To get Audio working on the xps m1530 through HDMI to watch your movies, right click the speaker icon on the bottom right of the screen and select "Playback Devices" highlight HDMI and select "Use as Default"

    Hey everybody,

I have been trying to figure out how to get my HDMI audio working, and could not get it to work using the aforementioned steps of selecting the HDMI audio as the default and then logging off / rebooting. I am playing just a simple MP3 through VLC. Running Vista Ultimate 64bit as well as the latest drivers from Sigmatel for the XPS M1330 64bit (since the M1530/1330 share many components, and 64bit page is not up yet for the M1530). Does anyone have any suggestions on what else to try?

    Newegg.com $7

Don't fall into the scam of paying $50 to $100 for a freaking cable. It's just 1s and 0s. Both the $7 cable and the $99 cable are made in china by near-slaves and both are equal in quality. HDMI cables either work or they don't (if they don't there faulty). When it comes to digital, there's no such thing as a better cable. The 1s and 0s don't change.

I got mine (M1330, should be same) to work with selecting the HDMI-outbut as default AND disabling computer-speakers. No need to re-log, and swithing back is the opposite. Works for me.

OT: great, cheap HDMI-cable with free worlwide shipping: Dealextreme.com

sometimes I do, sometimes I keep both screens on so I can use my computer while I am watching something. The key to fixing my issue was 2 parts, 1: Disable all other speakers/set HDMI audio default and 2: I forgot to set my TV to Auto on HDMI input.

I still am having troubles with HDMI. I have done all that has been mentioned in this thread. I have also tried disabling the speakers so that it just says HDMI Audio as the devices. One thing I noticed is that in HDMI ti says "left front jack", which is weird because that is for the headphones....

HDMi Sound blues seem to be a common problem for the XPS 1530....my situation:

XPS1530 connected to Dell 2408WFP monitor via LCD. Everything works great, video and audio then every now again, intermittently the sounds becomes very static!

Solution - a reboot, pull the hdmi out and in the it's fine.

Been on the phone with Dell for a long time, they landed up sending me a new monitor - got it today and still the same?

I plugged the laptop into my TV via HDMi and that works fine!

Anyone out there with any ideas on this one?

    Thanks
    Stormies

I was just using a 1530 last night with a flatscreen and the sound test worked, but not the audio track. If you click the test button in HDMI audio properties, it would work, but for some reason it would not play the DVD audio track. How can this be? The HDMI device wasn't even default for this to happen.

I had a similar problem - I couldn't get sound to my tv with HDMI. Was on the phone w/tech support last night and said I may need to swap my motherboard because I have a faulty sound card??

i was having the same problem but i found a fix for my particular problem. maybe you can try this and hope it works for you too. i saw someone mention this in another thread. what i did was go to HDMI properties and unchecked all the encoded formats and sample rates under the supported formats tab. having any of them checked assumes that your receiver supports them when that may not be the case. even if you use the test option and you hear the sound, you're better off unchecking all of them cuz that was the case for me. hope this helps some of you with your problems.

Or you can just disable the PC speaker device and it works right away without having to log out.
