So I have yet another problem with my freakin' Dell. I have 2 chargers. One, which is actually new and came with this laptop, plugs into my computer just fine. However, it won't charge the computer. I hover over the battery, but it says "plugged in, not charging." When I put in the other adapter, it charges the computer. What gives?

If the charger didn't work at all, then I would just assume its broken, but it still keeps the computer on.

Sound's like there is a problem with the adapter, or possibly a problem with the *internal* socket where the adapter plugs in on the lappy.. It could be loose, therefore not allowing a charge.

I had this happen with my 1530, Dell replaced the Motherboard, and brought me a new brick/adapter just in case. (Dell doesn't like to do any *soldering* on those internal sockets..they would rather replace the M.Board). All has been good since then.

Funny thing is that my motherboard has been replaced by a new one a few months back when they broke it while fixing the hinges around the LCD
I guess it has to be the adapter because it charges with the other one. This is extremely annoying. I just don't understand why it says its plugged in yet doesn't charge. I mean, it isn't losing battery life while plugged in. >_<

Getting a replacement board, which is actually a refurbished board, doesn't guarantee a good board.
My wife's Inspiron 6000 had problems with charging. Dell sent a tech to our house who replaced the board.
Second board did the same thing. Dell was skeptical and kept insisting we send the computer to their depot so they could look at it. We refused and raised a stink. Dell sent a second tech and replacement board at the second board worked correctly.
