    Hi,

The graphics card (8600M GT) is dead on my 2 year old XPS M1530 and my warranty has expired.
Is there any way to independently replace the graphics card?
If not, can anybody give a ball park figure regarding possible cost if I send it to my local Dell agency?

    Thanks.

You would need to desolder the defective G84M chip and resolder on another one or bake it yourself!

Repairs cost ~155-200 dollars if you have a repair center do it.

Yeah seller refurbished more like seller baked defective gpu in his grandma's oven and reselling. And Dell repair at least offers 90 day warranty against defects vs 30 days off Ebay and if it arrives defective -25 to ship it back, no thanks.

You may be fully aware of this, however, just in case you were not:

Dell extended the warranty for an extra year for anyone with a 1530 for problems relating to the graphics card due to widespread issues.

    So,

If you never bought a warranty upgrade you would have 1 year standard + a second year for graphics card problems.

    Or,

If you bought an upgrade to 2 years warranty, you would have a third year of cover for graphics card problems.

You may still be covered by the extended warranty program.

How exact is the "2 year old" part of it? Over 2 years, just under 2 years?

And, how long was the original warranty for?
