I ordered my Dell XPS M1530 back on June 3rd. It's supposed to arrive on the 30th of this month. I didn't order a car charger at the time, but I'm considering getting one now. I'm also looking at inverters.

What car charger do people like that will both run the dell and charge the battery? What inverter?

    Thanks.

I'd just get a converter IMO, but it's up to you.

I probably will, but thought I'd see what people use and have liked.

Well I used an external converter (due to fan, case is like a heatsink, kind of like THIS) and have ran a Playstation 2 AND a small TV off of it while driving from MN to Florida.

Yeah, I've had good luck with inverters. I haven't yet run my M1530 off of it, but it's run my wife's Vaio as well as a Playstation 2 (not at the same time) for extended periods with no issue. The one I use was made by CyberPower, though I don't recall the model number.

The bonus of an inverter over a dedicated travel charger is that you can use it with all kinds of devices...cell phones, ipods, games, notebooks. No need for a bunch of dedicated mobile chargers.

I've got an inverter as well. Cheapest way to do it, and gives you the flexibility of being able to plug other devices in if necessary (which a dedicated laptop DC charger would not).
