Hi, I'm coming to this forum since many months but here is my first post. I want to say that I really like this forum, it's very active and there's alot of people with good knowledge.
So here my question: Does the XPS M1530 use a modular GPU (like some of the others Dell laptop, with a proprietary module) or is it integrated to the motherboard.
I want to know if I buy the laptop and if they release a new GPU for it, if I can call Dell to upgrade my GPU ? Because, I have talk to a Dell rep on their online live chat and he said that there suppose to have 8700m GT available. Also, maybe when they release the 9600M GT it will be compatible.
By the picture at nootebookcheck.net, it seems like it's integrated so I want to be sure.
Thanks

If it's the 8600 GDDR3 then it has to be modular. I don't remember any of the recent Dell models soldering their cards onto the motherboard unless they were Intel X3100 integrated cards.

I think it is intergrated. Last time when i opened it up it was

its integrated. Lenovo's T61P's are integrated and both are GDRR3.
