Is this normal, I've had my XPS M1530 since April and have not had a problem with it at all. But recently I've noticed that my computer runs hotter in sleep mode, when i shut the lit then it does when I'm actually using it. The fan is constantly turning on while in sleep mode. The heat is coming from the hard drive and wireless card area making the palm rests and track pad pretty hot. But once I open the lid it cools back down. I'm baffled.

Do you have the wireless card enabled and allowed for device wakeup? This problem is most likely caused by video drivers...many sets of drives I hve used allow the computer to enter sleep mode, but then wake it up 30seconds + later.

I tried disabling the wireless card..... well i turned off the WI-FI switch and it still got hot. I checked the driver for the wireless card and i do not have it set to allow the device to wake up the computer

Try this. Leave the lid ope and put the comptuer to sleep. Sit there for 5-10 minutes and see if any lights pop back on and the hard drive starts up again.

my tinkering didn't work. The powerlight used to pulse when I shut the lid. Now it stays on and the hard drive light continues to flash. it must be the hard drive that keeps spinning while the lid is shut.
