Is it really worth $150 over the 8400 GS if I don't think I will be playing many games?

Nope. Will only make your battery life decrease and make your laptop hotter.

Thanks, and I feel like an idiot asking this but, the wireless N card is still compatible with all other types(G, B etc.) correct?

If your not going to play games then no, the power of the 8600 will go unused and wouldn't be worth it. So yes, stick with the 8400. Yes, it is backwards compatible.

Am I going to be future proof with the 8400? I mean I may play some games occasionally but not a lot.

No you won't be future proofed at all with the 8400. It should serve you just fine, but if you want to play any games in the next couple of years, you won't be able to.

That is correct. It isn't upgradeable.
