Hi all. I've got on my XPS M1530 the standard WXGA screen (1280x800). I would like to upgrade this to a WSXGA (1680x1050) or WUXGA (1920x1200) screen.
Now a few details first. In my prior haste, I purchased a WUXGA screen and went ahead and installed it. Everything seemed to work fine except for the fact that the screen was super dark like the inverter had failed. When I put the original screen back in everything worked just fine. I read in another thread that the WUXGA screen needs a different cable than what is used in on the WSXGA and lower screens. ( http://forum.notebookreview.com/del...can-you-convert-xps-1530-wxga-lcd-wsxga.html).
Does anybody have any prior experience doing this kind of upgrade? If so, what would you guys recommend?
EDIT: So I just found another thread related to replacing the screen. It seems that a WSXGA is an easy replacement. I guess the question I have now is can I use the WUXGA screen that I've already purchased with minimal work (IE, getting a different LCD cable) or will it be impossible/too much hassle.

I dropped it a few weeks ago and it went out. I bought a new screen, just in case it was that or the inverter (came with an inverter). However, I decided that to make it worth it, I should get the WXGA+ screen.
Backlight still won't come on. Replaced the cable. No dice.
Maybe I need a different cable like you? Who knows. -
From what I've been reading there is a specific WUXGA screen that you need to get that will work with the M1530. I think what I'm going to do is just get a WSXGA screen and call it good. Maybe I can sell the one I bought on ebay and make a little cash back from it.
