Its been a while since ive been on these boards and it seems as though other people might be having the same problems as myself.

Long story short, I returend from a weekend trip and attempted to power up my Lappy. I usually hit the power button and go do other things while its ready to go. After returning there was nothing. I thought that i might have not powered it on but the power indicator by the audio ports in front was on. i hit the space bar, maybe it was sleeping, and nothing.

the battery does have a charge, i in fact left it plugged in over the weekend.
I also connected it to another display via HDMI thinking maybe it was a display issue. no picture. i removed the battery and just ran on the AC adapter and nothing on the display. I put the battery back on and just let it run out of battery power. once i drained the battery i plugged the power source back in and still nothing.

When i push the power button all the media buttons on top light up. The blue power indicator by the audio ports also lights up, so does the charging indicator. the icon between those two only lights up for a second or so. I hear the fan working and thats about it. any help on what my next step should be or what i need to do would be appreciated.

Try to connect it to external monitor..
It seems like a faulty Nvidia GPU problem.

GPU failure looks pretty definite. If you're under warranty, congatulations. You're about to get a dell xps 16xx if you play your cards right. IF you're not under warranty I would send the motherboard off to have it reflow soldered. Alternatively you can look online for a tutorial on trying it at home. It involves stripping your motherboard down and baking it in the oven at 400 degrees.

Final alternative is to replace your motherboard, but this is clearly the most expensive and the least fun option.

my warranty was over in december, yay......sucks. i guess Im gonna have to go with the re-flow thing or just replace the mobo.

i tried to connect it to an external monitor via HDMI and nothing happened.

can anyone recommend a good place to send it of to. Probably just have the mobo replaced, but a if i could recomendations for either that would be great. really need this fixed ASAP. any help would be awesome. Thanks again for the help so far.

If your lappy's main warranty was over in December, you still have the 1 year extended warranty on the GPU. That would cover from 12/09-12/10 (on GPU).

So im kinda stuck in the middle. Everyone i talk to tells me my system is out of warranty, but im not sure if they mean its out of just the original warranty or out of the original warranty plus the one year.

I was never told of the additional 1 year of warranty, were they supposed to?

When did you purchase your lappy? Was it December 08? If so, and you only had the Standard "one year warranty" then the 1530's warranty expired on 12/09. So, yes you would be out of your "original warranty".

Now, the Nvidia GPU Warranty has been "extended" for 1 year for the GPU only ~ (outside of the 1530's main warranty). So, this would cover the GPU on your 1530 from 12/09 thru 12/10.

So it seems as though i purchase my laptop in 12/07, bmy question now is why wasnt i notified of this issue and of the extended warranty. I guess it doesnt really matter now.

what does bother me is that my brother also purchased the same laptop as mine(refurbished) in 04/08 and his failed late last year. he paid to get it fixed out of his own own pocket. not knowing of this issue. Anything HE can do?

as for myself, what my best option now? i called and they told me i would have to pay about $550 up front and theywould fix it and return any cash they didnt use. whats the verdict? wht to do, what to do?

You will have to replace the mainboard yes, as the Video card is intergrated into the mainboard, i have watched mine get replaced twice.

If you think that you can replace it yourself you can get a new motherboard from ebay and it may be cheaper than sending it anywhere. Possibly faster too. looks like there are a lot of m1530 motherboards on ebay.
