Which parts of the M1530 can be upgraded or exchanged for similar parts? For example could I switch out a 2.5" 128GB SSD with any 2.5" HDD, or would it be possible to upgrade from a centrino duo santa rosa core 2 duo processor to the new centrino 2 monteniva core 2 duo processor? (since it voids your warranty would it be possible to switch the processors back if needed?)

Only hdd/ssd, memory, and cpu can be upgraded.
Though only within the limitations of the chipset (i.e santa rosa)

Thus you can't use newer 'montevina' processors nor can you use higher speed (1066Mhz or the 800Mhz) ram.

Also does anyone know if you'll get better battery life with a slower processor? (I'm debating weather I should get the 2.0GHZ or the 2.4GHZ processor)

yea lol montevina is the codename for the new chipset, but in general its just being called centrino 2, right now the kind of processors used with it are just newer penryn processors. and about the 2.0 vs 2.4, if they are from the same set of processors it wont matter much, cause the 2.4 processor will downclock itself when it doesnt need to be running that fast.

for instance, i have the 2.4 offered with the 1530 and i get about the same battery life as someone else with the same specs just with the 2.0

You should get more battery life if you get a processor with lower wattage rating, eg P8600 vs T8400 processor. Almost similar speed, but 10watt difference.

Would there be a difference between the T5800 and the T8300?
