Today I just installed Vista x64 today...no problems at all. I used the UPEK driver listed and I installed the software too from one of the links posted here. The fingerprints I had registered in my finger print reader where all still there too...cause I saved them to the finger print reader not the HDD. Had no problems with video, sound, or anything so far. And I get my full 4GB of ram now !!!

I know this thread is about drivers, but I was curious if anyone got the creative sound blaster audigy software to work on 64-bit. If so, I would greatly appreciate the help.

The problem, I think, is that not much people have purchased this option (Audigy). May be that's why there's no reply.

It all depends on your hardware. That's all that I am using and I also added an additional wireless driver to the list that someone sent me.

I have installed Vista 64 Ultimate on my XPS m1530 with the following specs:
    T9300
    4gigs ram
    200gb 7200RPm (Seagate)
    8600 GT
    Intel Pro W/Less 3945

I used pascallee's driver list and it all works perfectly. No driver problems at all.

    Thanks very much!

As for the Audigy Advanced MB there is no method to get it to work correctly in Vista 64. It is driver based and it is looking for a specific version of the sigmatel audio driver to function properly.

I tried installing the 32bit sigmatel from dell and it will not install correctly in Vista 64. As such, until Dell releases a 64bit sigmatel driver update along with an update for the Audigy Advanced MB software you won't get the Audigy software to work in Vista 64.

Stinks I know, but I tried to force it to work to no avail.

The Audigy software is not worth all the frustration IMO. You get 7-8 EAX effects and sounds pretty lame, with a bunch of Creatives bloatware.

So after having latency issues with an online game, I sent an e-mail to their technical support. After about 2-3 e-mails back and forth, he recieved a diagonosis of my laptop and said that my Intel Chipset driver is out of date. I tried looking for a newer one the OP supplied but I cannot.

177.92 will work fine, that's what I'm currently using. Make sure to dload the modified .inf file as well. Overwrite the existing .inf with the one that you've dloaded.

    An Update:

I have been using Vista 64bit on my XPS m1530 with the aforementioned specs in my previous post for about 2 weeks now, having used exclusively Pascallee's driver list. Rock solid, very stable. No Problems so far.
Thanks again. (btw im using video driver 177.92 from laptopvideo2go).

If your Vista installation will boot then you can install the drivers after. I'm really not sure though if it will work or not, I have not tried myself.

On my side I never had to load the storage driver to install vista. I used vista sp1. Can anyone confirm if vista does not contains matrix drivers and vista sp1 do?

I'd like to know this too. I just rec'd a copy of the 64-bit Vista Ultimate w/ SP1 from Dell. Can I just go ahead and install from the disc and then load all necessary drivers? Or is there some prep work to do first?

Just try the installation. If it works that mean you don't have to load drivers. At worst you'll get something like "no HHD found" when you try to install Vista 64. Just don't forget to boot with Media direct CD and also that everything on your HDD will be erased.

The link in this post points to the software suite. I installed and it works brilliantly on my now 64-bit lappy. :)

Thanks for this handy guide, btw. Very valuable.

I haven't done this myself but from what I have read here Vista installs fine without any additional drivers but they won't be the faster ACHI drivers and you can't install them after the fact.

When I did my Vista 64 installation, I had AHCI enabled in the bios, so the HDD should be working in this mode. After vista installation, I then installed the matrix driver and the utility detected the HDD as working with AHCI.

Maybe SP1 has them included now because I know the guide here said you had to put them on a memory stick and use the additional drivers option during installation or else it wouldn't be AHCI.

The 64-bit O/S disc Dell sent me included SP1. I did not have to add AHCI drivers during install. BIOS showed AHCI as enabled prior to installing the 64-bit Vista as well.

Overall, the 'upgrade' went well. The only headache I experienced was deciphering the good from the bad when it came to video drivers on LaptopVideo2Go. I settled on the 177.92 drivers which seem to be doing well.

Anybody know where to get the UPEK fingerprint suite for 64-bit? The link isn't working and I can't manage to find it at the actual site [The suite, not driver].

Tried the other thread as well, same thing.

I'm up and running 64 bit. Thanks go out to Pascallee for the awesome list of drivers and reference links. I ended up purchasing the UPEK fingerprint software as it was only 15 dollars. Adds some additional functionality. Only thing I am still looking for is the webcam software, not the drivers...they work fine. So if anyone knows where this is, I'd appreciate knowing. I am using the latest Nvidia drivers and they work flawlessly. :D

Interesting thought; you could install the plug in before the main software and then try downloading the whole suite from firefox. Worth a try. My understanding was the plugin was supposed to be used after the main program had installed to facilitate using the password feature on sites while using firefox. However, there is no reason why you could not install the plugin before.

Is there a fully-WHQL qualified 64-bit driver that works really well with the XPS M1530? I tried 174.34 but had some bad luck with it (the driver seems to leak memory)

I just got my 1530 and installed Vista 64 bit and I just went to the nVidia site and d/l the latest driver and went to the hardware manager and selected have disk and manually selected the 8600 GT and it installed and everything seems fine for me so far. I have played some games and been using the computer for about a week without a single issue so far. I also play Blu-rays and they work fine also.

Hi, I am glad you posted because this is something I have been wondering about. Why do we have to go to laptopvideo2go if the drivers straight from the Nvidia site work? Is there something that will happen down the road?

I guess I forgot to specify I am using the desktop drivers. The trick is manually installing it without using a modified .inf so you don't break the WHQL so you can still play Blu-ray disks.

Just a question, sort of related to the drivers. I upgraded to vista 64 a couple of weeks ago and updated drivers and all, but for some reason it's no longer recognizing my 1395 wireless card. i've tried reinstalling the drivers and it comes up with that the system can't find the hardware. i'm not really sure what it's about, it did it a week ago too, but a couple of hours later fixed itself. this time it seems to be sticking though. any help would be greatly appreciated.
