    Hi,

I have an XPS M1530, the warranty recently expired about a month ago.

During the 1st year warranty period my DVD drive went faulty and had to be replaced. I am now experiencing problems with the DVD drive

But this time it is just not being detected, and sometimes it says the item in the modual bay can not be identified, push it in properly. Sometimes the drive will come back for a while, then it will just disappear next time I start up.

I was wondering does the work that was undertaken have it's own 12 months warranty on the part that was replaced? Or now that it is out of warranty does it mean I will have to buy a new drive and pay to have it fitted?

i dont think so.. at the most that they usually offer is 3 months.. that is if you got a confirmation from the tech guy that replaced your dvd. call dell and ask them about it.. they should have a record of some sort about your repairs..
