I can only afford one or the other so, two chocies, what should I do...
Option A) 2.2GHz/800Mhz FSB, 4MB Chace with a 1280x800 res. Screen
Option B) 1680x1050 Res. screen with a 2.0GHz/800Mhz 2MB Chace
What do you think??
-
If it were me, with the screen issues with the WSXGA monitors (1680x1050) I would go with the processor upgrade.
-
I don't think you'll really notice much difference if any at all between those CPUs, so make your decision for the screen resolution you prefer.
-
get the 2.2 with the 1440x900 screen its brighter!
-
Are there problems with the1440x900 screen?
-
I have the 1440x900 and it's crisp and clear..I love it.
-
EXACTLY what I did too! See my Review:

Stay away from the 1680x1050 until they get the bugs worked out on it. -
Ok so I'll go with the 1440x900 screen. ...So is it worth 75 bucks for 2GHz to 2.2GHz
So know i am trying to decide
A) 2.2GHz w/ 1 GB mem
B) 2GHz w/ 2GB mem -
not sure what the bugs are in 1680x1050 - had it in my e1505 i absolutely loved it. Still not getting use to this m1330

Yes. A CPU upgrade, will cost anywhere from $200-500 depending on what you're looking at. So it's best to pick something that you aren't planning on upgrading.
Definitely A). Memory is dirt cheap, I have already upgrade a couple of my laptops with the maximum memory limit (2GB for my Eee PC and 4GB for both my HP and my ol' Dell that I traded). Barely cost me anything, and it's very easy to upgrade too (most of the time).

Go with option C. Get a Vostro 1500, 2.0GHz C2D and a 1680x1050 LG screen without hassling with screen replacements. What tops the cake? It's cheaper than a XPS M1530 besides!
-
The XPS is alot better looking weighs less and has the all important 30% faster GDDR3 version 8600.
-
I was just poking a little fun. Although I did get a Vostro 1500 with those specs myself and am very happy with it. I understand the advantage of a M1530 however. Just didn't suit my needs.
-
Just get the higher CPU, and then upgrade the RAM yourself for less, later on if necessary.
-
One more question....if I'm gonna have this Laptop for 3 years, is it worth it to get the Wireless N?
-
^^^^^Anyone?Bout to go to sleep
-
Fist off, it's only in draft right now, so who knows how compatible this card will end up being when all is said and done. Also, do you need the extra speed if available? Do you feel the need? Do you plan on using n in your home? If so, pay out the 35 bucks and give it a go.
-
Alright I think ill go without it. Sorry, one more question...appreciate the answers. Is it worth $150 to go from Nvidia 128 to 256? I don't Think I'll need the 256, am I going to be wishing I had it in the future?
-
Notice that it's not just an increase in video RAM, but it's more importantly an upgrade of the GPU itself. If you plan on playing games, depending on which ones, you may be better off getting the better GPU.
-
I would get it you might not need it but for $35 it may be nice for in the future.
If you are planning on having this laptop for 3+ years I would go for the 8600 GT with 256MB GDDR3. It will be more future proof than the 8400 so if you ever want to play a game a year or two from now you will be able to. -
yeap good option its what i picked, cept for the 2.4ghz cpu
-
2.4 is just over price
