I bought a SwissGear Synergy backpack, and its great. My XPS M1530 fits in the laptop slot by itself, but if I put it in the included Dell Case, it doesn't really fit. It fits if I just put it in that laptop compartment, but not in the actual laptop slot of the compartment itself. Would that be bad if I just put it there?

I am also contemplating buying a laptop sleeve so if I do put it in that laptop compartment, it will have shock/scratch/etc protection. Anyone recommend any good sleeves that are about ~$20? And would they by any chance fit into the laptop slot of the laptop compartment?

    Thanks

The compartment should be paded and such so that any (usualy 15.4") laptop can fit snuggly in it without much danger of scraching or breaking it. The Dell case is esential a thick slevee, not many laptops come with any kinda of slevee or case. As an M1530 we are luck enough to get a case with our laptop and so all case manufactures will asume that you didn't get any slevee with your laptop.

Arghh, sorry that was far too wordy to make a very small point.

I agree with yz. Most laptop bags/backpacks are designed assuming you are not using them with any sleeve at all. The included protection should be more than adequate as long as you're responsible about what you put in the compartment next to the latop. If you want to use a sleeve plus the laptop compartment, you'll probably need to find a bag that will fit a 17" (for 15.4" + sleeve), though I think that's overkill.

No i think you're right. I really dont wanna go out and spend money on another sleeve if i already have this one, but I just wanted to know if its ok if I put my dell xps m1530 in the case it came with, into the swissgear synergy backpack. When I put it with the case into the laptop slot, it won't really fit. But if i put it alone w/o the sleeve, it does fit. How about if I just put it in the bookbag with the sleeve but not secured into the built-in laptop slot? Is that ok?

And also, do you guys use the plastic sheet the xps originally came with to protect the screen when you close the laptop? I still use it after a week or so.
