A friend of mine has an M1530 with lcd backlight, he cracked the screen, replaced the screen without removing the battery or grounding the board. Magic smoke left the center of the bezel.

Then he brought it to me, I took it apart and there was a fried diode on the led inverter/converter. Picked up a new board, slapped it in, no backlight. I disassembled it a bit further and disconnected/reconnected the video cable at all three points, still nothing.

The lcd is displaying fine, but no backlight. Have just ordered a new cable to remove it from the list of possibilities, but am wondering what else could cause the issue?

Also, is there any semi-easy way to test the led's on the lcd? With ccfl i have a load of 12v inverters that i can just plug the tubes into and test, not sure how to go about testing the led array though.

    thanks in advance,
