    Hi to all,

i got my M1530 last week and have to admit its really nice. everything works even
under linux. although there's one annoying issue: its noise.

even running a completely idle system (windows or linux doesn't matter),

    CPU:
    Cn Avg residency P-states (frequencies)
    C0 (cpu running) ( 8.9%) 2.21 Ghz 3.1%
    C1 0.0ms ( 0.0%) 2.21 Ghz 0.0%
    C2 2.2ms ( 6.0%) 1200 Mhz 0.6%
    C3 2.1ms (85.1%) 800 Mhz 96.3%
    Graphics:
Performance Level NV clock Memory Clock
    0 169 MHz 100 Mhz

the internal temperature constantly increases within approximately 3 minutes
by 10 degrees (from 50 to 60 degrees). so the fan starts running at ~3000RPM
for another 3 minutes to cool the system down. this procedure then continues
over and over again. that's a problem because this fan is really noisy.

    1. does anybody observe the same / a similar effect? i'm asking because all
reviews i read before buying did't complain about fan noise. and all guys here
stated it's as quite as an Inspiron 1520. mine definitely isn't. a friend got an
Inspiron 1520 and even during NFS playing i couldn't here anything.

another stange aspect: nvidia's utility pretends the 8600GT has 512MB ram.
personally i suspect the graphics adapter as it reaches 65 degrees without
    anything (text mode) to do.

    2. does anybody possess a M1530 with 8400GS. as i'm not playing that much,
i consider checking out that option. the main thing is i can work in silence.

    thanks for your comments

download RMCLOCK, lower the voltages of the cpu slightly, and test them before determining to go lower.
