Hi, my xps is shutting down while playing games. I have the 8600m gt video card.

    The normal GPU temperature is: 68 C (154 F). While gaming, it gets to 94 C (200 F)

I bought the computer on june 2008, with 1 year warranty, but ive read here that bad GPU's were extended to 1 year.

Should i contact dell and ask for a replace? Is it possible?

no... if this is a first shutdown they are most likely going to replace the mobo... then it has to mess up a couple more times after that before they have any incentive to replace it. Don't ask them to replace it directly or they won't period. The other bummer might be since you are on the extended gpu warranty they may not replace it on those terms. The only way to really know is to contact dell and tell your situation professionally and sternly. Sorry to be a Debbie Downer on this but give it a shot and I will offer any help I can provide, I'm getting my replacement tomorrow. Also check out "my m1530 story" thread and it has the letter that I wrote to dell and how I went about my process.

    Good Luck
