    Hi guys,

    I've just purchased a new XPS M1530.

When i run Battlefield Vietnam it says program has stopped working.

I read around and believe its got to do with the screen refresh rate and that the Battlefield games are only compatible for 60Hz.

I've managed to run the game... BUT only by plugging in My desktop monitor to my XPS M1530.

My standard XPS M1530 Monitor settings are:
    1. Generic Non-PnP Monitor on NVIDIA GeForce 8600 GT.
The screen refresh rate only allows to select 63Hz.

Could someone please tell me what I should do to run the game without using my desktop monitor every time.

    Cheers,

    Ricky D.

I have the same problem, refreshrate of 63Hz, is there a program that can change the refreshrate and does that hurt the screen if i change back to 60Hz?

    1. Go to C:\Users\[Your Account Name Here]\Documents\Battlefield 2\Profiles\Default

    2. Open Video.con in notepad

    3. Find VideoSettings.setResolution 800x600@60Hz

    4. Change it to 63Hz or whatever your refresh rate is, don't mess with the resolution though because this is not the way to get it to allow unsupported resolutions.

When you start playing, even if you change the resolution in the settings, it will remember the refresh rate.

P.S. Didn't realize this was such an old topic, oh well, maybe it will help someone else.

or with the newer 178 + drivers create a custom resolution. then go back to where it shows the 63hz on the stock list of refresh rates uncheck the box that says show rates the panel is capable of or something like that under the pulldown menu and now go back to the list you should have a choice of 63 or whatever you created in the custom res like 60hz. works for me every time

Every time I have tried to change the refresh on a custom resolution it has failed. Obviously I'm doing something wrong but its pretty easy to just change BF2s settings.
