    Hi there!

i was watching movie 2 nights ago then suddenly my screen went black. I tried to press escape thinking that it was only the screen saver being activated, but after that i get blue sceen saying "dumping memory" then telling me to restart in safe mode. Then after i restarted my laptop, it shows only Gray screen with 1 inch thick black horizontal line in the middle. The dell logo won't show up and its doing that thing since then.

can anyone in here tell me what the hell is going on with my xps? i just bought that last dec 29.

    here is my specs.

    Intel core 2 t7250 (2.0Ghz/800Mhz FSB, 2Mb cache)
    3GB RAM
    256MB NVidia Geforce 8600GT

Sounds like a video problem to me. Call up dell support, tell them the situation and they'll get a replacement out for you.

Call Dell for sure. That sort of thing shouldn't be happening.

I don't think this video card in general is problematic, but just this one in particular, if you get my meaning. ;)

If you call and complain enough about it they will do something for you. You may be able to get them to replace it with a new one, or upgrade a component for free, or give you some dell dollars.

If you call dell support ask for a supervisor and complain enough they almost always give you something for your trouble.

You could probably get a replacement if you call up and be polite but firm, telling them you simply don't have the time to continue dealing with this problem. Don't yell, just politely remind them how much time you've already had to live without it and if they say there is nothing they can do kindly ask them to connect you with someone who is authorized to do something.
Good luck, I've found dell xps support to be first rate.
