I'm not sure if anyone else has had this issue, but my CPU maxes out at 100% utilization if I try and play any video what-so-ever (uTube, ABC.com, sling media, etc). It's causing video playback to stutter and is driving me crazy. I try and keep my video drivers at the newer releases - currently I'm using the 180.43 from laptopvideo2go. I also always format and perform a fresh install on the system once or twice a year to keep it running at it's peak. Specs are below:

OS: Vista 32 bit Ultimate SP1
    Memory: 2gig
Processor: Intel Pentium M 2.26 ghz

    anyone have any thoughts???
    Thanks in advance!

Which browser are you using to view Youtube and others? Have you tried alternative browsers?

I use Internet Explorer, and haven't tried any others yet. If it were the browser that may explain the uTube, but what about the proprietary application for ABC.com and Sling Media? Those both peg my CPU and cause stuttering =(

Thanks again for your suggestion, I'll certainly test out a new browser with uTube and see if that helps any.

    Anyone have any thoughts/ideas?

Hi Shiandy, it's whatever process is playing the video... I don't think it's virus based as it only happens when I play video... *tear*

Open wmp, go to 'tools' then 'options' then 'library' then 'monitor folders' option. Delete folders there, see if that helps.

hmm that seems to help a tiny bit when using wm player... I need to try firefox. I noticed that if I slide the scroll up and down in IE I can watch my CPU jump every time I scoll... this is just really weird

Next step would be to un-install your codec's, and re-install em. K-Lite's codec pack is a very good choice.

Well if you've installed some in the past, then you should be able to use add and remove programs in the control panel. If you have never installed any codec's then grab the K-Lite pack (Google it) and install.
