    XPS M1710 3dmark05

    I have XP pro 4GB DDR2, 100GB 7200RPM, 7900GTX 512MB, I have All windows updates with SP2 i also have the audigy soundcard, I have tried multiple video drivers including the latest laptopvideo2go drivers I am getting around 5700-5800 in 3dmark05. No backround appllications running at all. Is there a performance issue with 4GB dual channel memory and xp pro or anything else that might help According to the review i should be getting just over 8000. I am running everything on defaults v-sync is disabled as well as AA/AF. I paid $6000 for this laptop i should be getting better scores.

    Nevermind i had to enable speedstep in the bios. Strange on most intel's you can disable speedstep to run the cpu at full power but in my case disableing speedstep underclocks the CPU to 1GHZ.

    No offense or anything, but you overpaid a ton. I don't see any need for mobile perfomance (and heat generation) like that.

    You could have bought a superior desktop system for like 2k and an E1705 for like $1300 that would handle most games.

    Either way, congrats on the very high score.

    Wow. 4GB of RAM? Did you just want to brag or something? 32-bit XP can't even use 4GB, which is probably why you're only showing 3GB. And 6k? Seriously, I would have to agree with CvcDrk. Not to be mean or anything, it is your money, but seriously dude, for 6k you could be getting like ten bajillion in 3dmark05 with a desktop. Really sad that people with slower processors and half as much RAM are getting better scores than you just by turning the clocks up to nVidia specs, and they spent less than half as much as you. But hey, like I said, it's your money.

    Guys - please keep your comments to yourself.

    One thing that you might keep in mind is that at this moment 4GB's of RAM is not going to effect your 3dmark scores very much... That much RAM mostly helps out in 3d rendering... But, In the future with Vista, the RAM will help when gaming.... That looks like a very nice machine you've got there. 8,500 is a really great score.... :D Now lets see what it can do overclocked :D
