My XPS M1710 (2GHz Core2Duo, 2Ghz RAM, 7950GTX) crashed whilst playing Command and Conquer 95 of all games. Powered down; reboot, and this happens:

Gray screen, no bleeps, warnings etc. No button presses change the fact I'm looking at a grey screen.

Startup + fn + d = left light solid, 2nd/3rd led's flashing. From what I've googled that means a problem with the RAM. To try and overcome this I have removed each 1gb piece of RAM and reinstalled, same problem - so its either both pieces of RAM or neither. Reading around, I haven't seen the grey screen issue anywhere, but the 7950 seems to have recurring issues.

    - Have you seen this issue before, what is it likely to be?
    - Is there a quick fix?
    - If no (I'm not at all technical), is it expensive, or would I be better buying a new laptop.

    Really appreciate your help.
