Im going to be buying a new laptop and am pretty much sold on the xps m1710, Ive read reviews but just have a few questions if anyone has one.
Is the screen super glossy? I really dont like a lot of glare on my screen and want to know if you can pretty much see your own reflection in the screen if there is any light in the room. Also, should i wait a little while for a sale? I get a discount for the company i work for, and ive seen a lot of 20% off inspiron deals, but usually nothing for the xps. Does dell have coupons for the xps, and do you think there will be a sale around christmas time? Additionally, does anyone have any opinions on the system in general. Im deciding between this system or possibley Alienware M9700, so any comments or suggestions? Lastly.... Is dell going to start using AMD chips anytime, and are the really better? I'm not to knowledgable about this so any info would be sweet! thanks!

I'm totally satisfied with my M1710. Go down to the local Dell Kiosk @ the mall and check it out. Only way you will be able to decide if you like the TrueLife screen. I love it - others don't.

Haggle with your EPP sales rep. If you don't like the deal - say no. Keep calling back - don't be afraid to ask the rep to check with the supervisor (for a discount or money off). Just keep trying - it took 5 days of calling back and talking to different reps before I finally was able to get the deal I wanted.

Blast Alienware dude - I wouldn't based on the customer support issues I have read about.

As for the cpu - that's up to you to decide on - I personally love the Intel Duo and now that they are using the Core 2 Duo, it's even more appealing.

    Good Luck!

I don't think the screen is "super" glossy. This is kind of subjective but having owned both HP dv8000 brightview and dell trulife screens, I felt that the HP screen was glossier and more reflective than the dell one.
