Hoping someone can help me. My mother bought this laptop for herself as a one that we could refurbish, it was advertised as the graphics card needing replacement (screen was working until it warmed up so he said) so we put a new one in and screen still not working but worked with an external monitor so thought we'd try with cheapest replacements first. We got a new LCD cable and inverter board, put both of those in but still wasn't working until I went into bios settings and adjusted brightness settings and then it was working. But then I switched the laptop off for a few hours and when I switched it on again screen was not working. Obviously next thing to replace is LCD screen but is it more likely to be that or the motherboard? Have run diagnostics and all came back ok.

Make sure your video card connection is good and clean to the lvds cable.

Otherwise sounds a lot like the backlight...try shining a light on it while it goes black, see if you can make out the image. If you can, even barely, its the backlight bulb.
