    Hi forum,

Having read a considerable amount of comments and debate on various forums about some quality issues re the XPS M1710 screen, does anybody know if Dell have now addressed these issues? I refer primarily to uneven/ patchy backlighting and light leakage. I'm in the UK, but understand these issues may be on a global basis.

I believe Dell use several manufacturers to produce the screens on this model, and correct me if I'm wrong, but I've heard the LG screen is the preferred one. Even if this isn't the case, is there anyway of determining which screen your order will be shipped with? If I'm going to spend £1600+ on this laptop I'd like to be armed with as much info as possible before I call Dell sales.

Please accept my apologies if this topic has been answered in previous threads.

    Many thanks
    Adam :)

If it's XPS they've got to put serious parts in there. WIth inspiron, chance u may get cheap parts is normal.
