I'm trying to help out my friend who's having a prob with his M1710.

He reformatted the system this weekend (after having it for about a year) and since the reformat, plugging in an external monitor doesn't work correctly. If both the laptop's and external monitor are on, they both appear fuzzy beyond being able to read anything, a 'shaking fuzziness'; this occurs at resolutions higher than 1024x768. The native res of the laptop is 1900x1200 and the monitor is 1650xsomething. If he tries closing the laptop lid, the laptop monitor does not shut off.
Does anyone have any insight as to a solution to get this working ?
