I recently got lucky on getting one of these gems of a by gone era and looked around online with next to nothing found information wise regarding the FX3600M works in this machine or not. I've already got the FX1600M working in it but I desire a bit more bang plus more vram. What I want to know is if anyone here has done this and if they got it working at some point.

I am covered for "modern" games with a precision m6600, a alienware m15x, and a 12 core xeon desktop so no need to worry. :)

You can't. The M1710 uses some weird form factor that basicially makes it non upgradable. You'll have to live with what you got.

The FX3600m worked but the back light was permanently set to dim and no one figured out a way around it, the best gpus are the fx 1600m and the 7950 GTX.
