    XPS M1710 wireless card

    i looked at Dell's M1710 documentation but couldn't find wireless except wlan modem and bluetooth modem? i think my machine has Intel PRO/Wireless 3945ABG but cannot locate where it's stored? do i have to take apart the entire notebook or is it somewhere under the keyboard? thanks for the help!

    If all you want to know is the card, check the Device Manager.

    i actually need it replaced since it stopped working (or detecting).

    edit: i guess it's the mini PCI express card located next to the modem. and i'm assuming it's broken since it's not detecting at all? :confused:

    BHD, I took apart my friends XPS1710 a while back, and I can tell you for sure that the wireless card is not under the keyboard. It has to be on the underside of the notebook under a removable panel.

    Here is a picture of the motherboard under the keyboard.
    As you can see their is no minipci or minipcie port for wireless their.

    I believe the wireless card is under one of the removable plastic panels, so dont take your entire laptop apart, cause its not in the inside.

    The wireless is minipcie, not pci

    Flip the computer over onto its lid. The mini pcie slot is on the bottom side and requires removing just a couple of screws. At least, this is where it has been on every laptop I have seen.
