Hey.. i know this is a dumb comparison but keep this in mind... i can configure and XPS to be roughly $200 more than a 1520 with the SAME SPECS (video card is different, though they are from different gens.) The differences are: Battery Life, Screen Size, Uber cool looks haha, and Video Card. Then theres also the build Quality, Speakers, Keyboard, Touchpad etc. Im just wondering what the better deal would be for gaming, and occasional travelling. Both would be configured with 7200RPM HDD, 2GHZ Dual Core Processesor, 2GB of RAM, top of the line video card, and 9-cell batteries. Also, if i do decide to go with the 1710 should i wait for the DX10 cards to be released on it? Will they even release the DX10 cards for the M1710 or are they going to change the whole laptop and release an even more expensive model lol.... Do you think that bringing the DX10 cards to the 1710 will make the price increase greatly? Thanks guys.

i know you might be thinking... why doesnt he get the inspiron 1720? Its because it costs MORE than the 1710 with the same specs.. figure that out!

The 8600m GT preformance is between the NV go7600 and NV go7900 GS so if gaming is a priority, the M1710 will be a better choice.

A 15.4in(1520) is easier to carry around/travel then a 17in since they are usually lighter and smaller with but its a personal preference.

There is also a Dell XPS m1730 that should be released soon with 8700m GT(on par/less performance then the NV go 7950gtx).
