Hi,
I just installed Skyrim on my XPS and I'm trying to discover why the game reccommend my settings as low.
One thing that I found odd was that after I upgraded my OS to windows 7 32bit my windows experience index reports my processor with a score of 2.3.
This doesnt seem right to me.
Based on the M1730 specs Id expect to be able to set Skyrim to at least medium quality settings. My frame rate appears very low and jittery.
Could somebody propose what the problem may be?

Recommended settings are just that - recommended. It's impossible for the developers to test a list of every single computer ever put together. So it does a scan, sees what you have, and decides. That doesn't mean you can only play at low.

I'm sorry, I wrote my question in haste.
I omitted the fact that I have tried running the game with medium and high settings and when doing so get a very low frame rate. -
I upgraded my bios from a09 to a11 and it fixed the problem. scoring 6.0 and have a nice smooth framerate
