    Dear friends,

I have got a notebook from ebay but the keyboard is not illuminated.. Bios says the illumination cable is not connected and to be honest I can't find any. So the question is: Do original keyboards have any ribbon cable attached. What's the illuminated keyboard model to search for an appropriate one to buy?

    Thanks in advance

There is a ribbon cable located underneath the left lower edge of the laptop keyboard. I don't recall seeing a separate cable though when the tech had my system open for a screen replacement.

The keyboard should have 2 connectors, one in front and underneath the space bar key and is about 2" wide, the second is a small ribbon cable about 1/2" wide and would be located on the left front corner of the bottom of the keyboard and is about 2 1/2" long. I have attached a pictutre of the keyboard from my M1730.

I know you can download the service manual from Dell, but I am not sure if it has the part numbers since I have not downloaded or looked at it yet.
