So, I recently bought a blu ray drive for my xps m1730 and it installed perfectly, but it won't read ANY discs.

The drivers installed successfully and device manager says the device is working properly.

I have no idea what's wrong, I switched back and forth with my old dvd/cd drive and that works perfectly, but the blu ray drive can't read any discs. It spins when i put in the disc for like 5 seconds and there's complete silence after that. When I go into Computer and click the drive, it just says "please insert a disk into drive E:."

Please help me, I am so confused.

    Just an update and bump.
I ran diagnostic test before pc starts up, I ran custom test on disk drive..it fails "read" test and the test after that(forgot what it was called).
Then I checked to see if its in Ultra DMA mode and it is.
I ran "Driver Detective" software and it shows that my drivers for the disk drive is up to date.

Right now, I'm getting ticked off on how difficult a plug n play hardware is such a hassle to set up...
Please anyone that can contribute solutions, it'd be appreciated!
    Im also running windows 7.

Do you have the ability to test the drive on another laptop either via the DVD slot or external cable? I'm asking if it's possible so we can isolate if it's the laptop or the drive.

Sadly, I do not have another laptop to use. I have decided to return this item. I reinstalled my OS too and it still had issues reading discs.
