Just a quick question--will an XPS M1730 with T7700, 2gb ram, SLI 8700mGT's, 120 gb 7200rpm drive,WUXGA, Vista home premium play Oblivion at 1920x1200 decent settings without lag? I do not care about FPS/performance, just smooth gameplay. Also, i dont think AA/AF will be necessary. This may be first gaming laptop, and need ideas about my favorite PC game so far. Also, how does cyrsis, fear, and age of empires III look? (can they play at 1920 rez?)

One last question-what drivers is everyone using with Vista and SLI? I believe NVidia released a 16x version of drivers for SLI and VISTA support, but i may be wrong. Does Dell website have updated drivers?

Any comments would be appreciated. thanks to all

i dont know about oblivion but u will not be able to run cryis at that resolution but age of empires will do it nicely. use 169.09 as i think they are the best drivers for sli

    Oblivion run without pausing/stuttering/lag? No.

Why? Its nothing to do with the processor or the graphics card, its to do with the hard drives and the way Oblivion was programmed. Oblivion loads a new area every 5 - 10 seconds of walking. Even on the lowest settings this still happens with no change. If you wan't smooth gameplay then look for a different game. Perhaps a solid state drive may make a difference but I don't know anyone who can afford one of these yet.

    Oblivion.. No Idea..
    Fear.. Yes 1920 smooth..
Crysis.. Not even.. Most I got is 1280X1024 All MED settings with average 30-40 fps
    AOE.. again no idea..
TimeShift.. 1280x1024 Max settings with average 60-80 fps..

30 + fps (Stable) still provides good gaming..

On my second adapter.. next step replacement XPS..
