As a recently new owner of an XPS M1730, I was wondering what temperatures owners are experiencing.
Mine has a X9000 CPU with a 9800M GTX video card.
I am keen to keep the temps as low as possible in order to extend the life of the GPU.
According to Speedfan my GPU runs at between 50-60c and the CPU at31-40c. I run the laptop 24 hours a day in a raised position about 5inches above the surface. There is about 3/8 inch gap for the fans to get fresh clean airflow. I do not use a fan powered cooler as they suck air and work against the air flowing into the air inlets at the bottom of the laptop.
My idea is that if you look after these laptops, then you should get reliable usage from it.

    Hi,

The temperature that you have mentioned is normal when the system is idle. On high load it may reach up to 80C, or may be slightly beyond that, it is considered as normal on high load. You may clean the air vents on a regular basis using a can of compressed air.

    I hope this helps.

    Thanks and Regards
