I am finding on the XPS M1730 that the power button no longer boots the machine to Windows.
The power led illuminates as does the bluetooth led.
The DVD drive makes a couple of noises as the "sledge" moves to and fro' and the hard drive led flickers a couple of times but that's it.
The hard drive led then turns off and nothing happens.
The screen remains blank and the machine just sits there.

The machine can however be booted by pressing the Media button and finding my way into Windows that way.

What can be causing this and is there a solution?

    Many thanks for any help.
