I have searched this forum with no result to my question. I am going to do a clean install on my system using Vista 64bit. I saw the reformat and bloatware removal forum and wanted to know to I need to install the AHCI driver during install and if so where can I find it for my system, I read somewhere that I do not need to install the driver as the Vista install cd that came with my system has the driver on it. Can someone clear this up for me. Thanks

I read that to. I have done 2 clean installs since having the SXPS 16 but have never needed to install the AHCI driver on either occasion. It has seemed to run fine without it. Is the driver suppose to improve the performance of the computer?

You may not need it, but its nice to have handy on a USB Flash Drive. Just in case, grab the 64-bit Vista installer, run it and it will extract the needed files. Copy them to a flash drive and you are good to go. Enable AHCI in the BIOS, run your Vista Install and if prompted, plug in your flash drive and direct the vista installer to grab the AHCI files from the flash drive.
