    PROCESSOR Intel ® Core ™ i7 820QM 1.73GHz (3.06GHz Turbo Mode, 8MB Cache)
MEMORY 4GB Shared Dual Channel DDR3 at 1333MHz
HARD DRIVE 500GB 7200 RPM SATA Hard Drive
    VIDEO CARD ATI Mobility RADEON® HD 4670 – 1GB

    vs

    PROCESSOR Intel Core i7 720QM 1.6GHz (2.8 GHz Turbo Mode, 6MB Cache)
    VIDEO CARD 1GB NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 260M
    MEMORY 3GB DDR3 at 1066MHz

These questions probably get asked all the time. But I am having a hard time deciding what laptop to pick up.

I plan on gaming (mostly) and realize the Nvida card is a better GPU than the ATI..but the XPS has 1080p vs 900p 1gig more Ram (even thought it is shared) and a Blue Ray burner.

If for gaming the alienware is the way to go.

Well when I say gaming I mostly only play MMOs on my laptop. Wow/DDO/Darkfall, possibly Aion

But I want something that is going to be able to play newer MMOs well.

I generally stick to Xbox for my fps/rpg fix..

The new M15x lacks HDMI so keep that in mind if it's important to you. For gaming, the AW is the better choice. With that said, if you want a gaming laptop like you mentioned, then you should also consider an Asus or Clevo. Both offer the same features/performance of an AW but for a much better price.

I did consider Asus/Clevo but what I am really thinking is I want something that is going to be able to still funtion at a decent level in a couple of years. So I am shying away from the Dual Cores and looking more at Quad/i7

The SXPS 16 has a better CPU, more RAM (configured as dual channel), and faster RAM. Though the higher resolution monitor can degrade performance (assuming you play at your native resolution), I wouldn't specifically consider that a downside if you ever do anything other than game.

I agree with 5150Joker here. If you want to primarily game, make sure you first take a look at Asus and Clevo. Both of them have already announced mobile Core i7 computers.
