Could someone help me to find this software? I've reinstalled the OS and this software is the only thing I miss, on Dell website there's only the webcam driver but not the software, and also on the CD there isnt   any idea?

I had a problem at first, and it turned out to be the pop-up blocker. But mine said that the Service Tag was not recognized.

You can get a replacement CD to re-install FastAccess on your XPS by calling Dell tech support. Post here if you are successful in getting the replacement CD or not. If absolutely necessary, I may be able to follow up with my contacts at Dell, though I would prefer to leave that to them. They should be able to handle your request directly.

I emailed support 2 weeks ago because I was missing this software (also missing Webcam Central and PowerDVD)... They are giving me the run around at the moment. I am so annoyed!

The support lady keeps telling me that all this software is on the resource dvd... honestly! I am getting a little frustrated with the whole thing!

I can certainly understand your frustration. Do you have an XPS? If you do, then although Dell themselves is really responsible for the support of FastAccess, I would still like to help if I can. First try calling tech support instead of emailing. That may work. If it does not, then please email me privately (I think I've enabled that? Please let me know if I didn't.) with the details of your case (case number if you have it, service tag from your laptop, names of tech support reps whom you've spoken with, mailing address for the CD, phone number). If necesary, I can follow up with my contacts at Dell to request a replacement CD for you to re-install FastAccess facial recognition.

I don't have details on Webcam Central or PowerDVD. Sorry.

This is a VERY common problem with the SXPS. Listed frequently on both threads. Might want to have your contacts look into that.

If she so insists that they are on the resource CD, demand that she walk you through the process of finding it on the CD and install it.

    (I know it's not there.)

It has been just over 2 weeks since I asked Dell to send me the missing software... I have been through a couple support people (and their manager) and have spoken via email and telephone (with atleast 8 emails and 2 phone calls)... and today I recieved an email saying they were going to send me the software :)

Time will tell... They said they would be sending all 3 disks I was missing and that the facial recognition software had already been sent, so I will report back when they arrive.

svrep, I really appreciate your offer to help and applaud your efforts. Hopefully the SXPS support has figured out the problems now as I have seen a few more successful claims emerging.

Oh believe me I know, and they have been working on it for a while now. The good news is that I've had very good luck in assisting people with getting CDs. I remain very optimistic that the situation is improving. Again if anyone here requires a disc and is having difficulty getting one, please email me privately with the details of your case (case number if you have it, service tag, full contact info, and name of support reps that you've spoken with) and I can make a request directly to Dell.

You are very welcome and I'm genuinly pleased that your situation seems to be resolving. I realize that it has been frustrating for many people. Thankfully I now see the same signs that you do (in the forums of course, but also in the calls and internal communications that I have had recently) that things are improving. I know that both Sensible Vision and Dell want to provide the best possible customer experience.

Following re-installation of Vista, I also am missing the Webcam Central and Facial recognition software. I am in the UK, and it is not possible to download software from the referenced download site. I have registered at the site, but neither of my Service Tag numbers are recognised. The site says it is for USA (and Canada?) only. So I've called Dell and after about an hour of being sent round in circles arrived at the Post Shipment Team. They say they will send the Webcam Central as it is mentioned on my computer build list. They will not send the Facial Recognition as it is not on the build list even though it was installed on the computer when delivered.

On another note - they will not send me a copy of the 64 bit version of Vista as the 32 bit version was on my order. When I ordered 32 bit version - I never imagined that the laptop was going to pinch 1.7MB of my 4MB memory, mostly to satisfy the graphics card (9500M).

Has anyone in the UK managed to get the Facial recognition software? Can anyone from the USA help?

    Thanks

    Geoff

I just recently got my Studio XPS 13 (in Canada) and I've done a reinstall of windows. Now I am also facing this issue as I didn't receive a disk with the facial recognition software.

For the record, I've also tried the dell site on the white card included with the laptop, but the site always gives me an error.

Someone, please share this software for those of us that aren't able to obtain it! We would be very grateful!

What other software does this site let you get to? I tried to register my new SXPS13 right out of the box with no dice. I then formatted and am running Windows 7 (was planning on it anyways), and it still won't register the system correctly!! Seems like the same thing as my experience with support.dell.com's Service Tag Finder as in it has NEVER worked for me with ANY of my Dell computers, I always end up entering it manually. I really wish they gave you that option here.

This application seems to be working on any Dell computer with a webcam (built-in or otherwise)!

Moderators: Is it legal to share this file?

    UPDATE

I never got any reply from the moderators for my question above but I got a private message from SVREP and based on his/her request, I have deleted the link. Here is the PM:

How comes you don't email Dells technical support and say you've had to do a re-install and there was'nt no webcam software on disc included with your system and that you require it on disc.

    They should send you it!

Indeed it does. :) I have posted several times in this thread already trying to assist people with obtaining replacement installation CDs for FastAccess by using my contacts at Dell. If anyone continues to have this issue (though I have had far fewer requests of this nature recently), please let me know and I'd be happy to continue to help. I even heard rumor recently that Dell was creating an authorized link (at least for US and Canada) that you could use by registering your service tag number. As soon as I get the link address I'll be sure to post it here.

Thanks very much for the expedient removal of the unauthorized link.

Update (as I see that some people actually found the link before I did!). Ah well.

    https://smartsource.dell.com

This link apparently allows you to download a limited number of authorized copies for a lot of software that came with your Dell machine (as an easier alternative to requesting a replacement installation CD). It only works at the moment for users in the US and Canada.

The problem is that the above website doesn't seem to work. It doesn't register the system correctly. I tried immediately after I got it from Dell (so it was a new install) and it did not read the service tag, I also formatted & reinstalled and after that the site did not pickup my service tag either, it just sits there and spins.
