XPS Stuidio 1340 Facial recognition security software needed!!!

The download is good for (2) uses. Go to dell's tech support site and explain you need the software, they will load access into the smartsource site for you to download the app. They give you access to the facial software as well as the dell webcam app. Once you download either you can then back it up to a DVD.

 

is this facial recognition software some kind of a joke? I've tried using it on my brand new Dell Studio XPS 13 and the software won't even load up properly? just the same as a few people here have mentioned with the vista icon spinning ....... and nothing happens.

 

I have no problem with it, after downloading both the software (facial recognition and webcam central) and installed on my pc now it works everything fine, the first 2 or 3 times is a bit slow to recognize the face but after that it becomes really fast and moreover there's no need of a lot of light cause it's able to recognize my face also in a dark room using the light coming out from the WLED lcd, obviously in that condition I've to be very close to the monitor

 

Hello all FA user, got a question for you all.
ATM, nod32 snatched the exe used for auth but left the config stuff in toolbar. Have that happend to someone else or is my nod just a bit more paranoid then yours?

 

everytime I try to register my system on the dell smartsource it says

An Application error has occurred. Please contact customer support if this problem persists.

 

One thing I will say about the site. I couldn't get it to work until I used IE to access it. Neither Chrome, my preferred browser, nor Firefox would access the sight for me. I couldn't even register.

 

I have tried IE7 and IE8 and they both give me errors

 

If you check a page or two before I posted that it's a false positive. I too use nod32 and got the message so I just excluded it from scanning.

happened to mine. I thought it was a false positive at first. So I let it out of quarantine. A few days later, I was getting attacked non stop when I was checking out a few photos on a mates facebook page.

Not sure if these two incidents are related, but I had to do a full clean install to get my computer back up and running. I didnt bother installing FA the second time.

What is the full, exact name of the executable that is being flagged?

I should be able to tell you pretty quickly whether it's a legitimate FastAccess file with a nod false positive (this can happen - FastAccess interacts with the OS in ways which can be mis-interpreted by virus scanners), or if something else is going on.

I need this as wel & the dell mydownloads site wont allow me past the login screen. I havent tried to speak dell customer service since how much difficulty everyone has had with no solution. Is there anyone who can upload it or help me out? Thanks Malik

Yes, those are both correct and legitimate files that FastAccess requires in order to function. This would seem to be a true false positive from NOD.

 

I don't suppoes someone would be willing to Email me the Link as well I'm getting stuck on that page as well and I have dealt with dell customer support before if I can replace it without dealing with them all the better

I chatted with Dell Tech support because the smartsource.dell.com website is giving me an error when I try to have it examine my computer (this step is before it will give you access to download the software).. The dell tech remoted into my computer and saw the webpage error and said he would ship out the software in 1-2 days!

So everything should come to me next week

 

For people who are having problems with Dell and their Facial Recognition software I've here the partnumer from the CD: C976H, try to call Dell and ask them to sent that part

 

I had the toughest time with this software on my Studio XPS 16, then I did a clean install, and it works soooo much better.

I only found this out because currently Dell is screwing me around and telling me that certain built-in hardware items won't work with 64bit... so I loaded 32bit, and they still didn't work, so I went back to 64bit, and have a new mobo on the way. But, that's a different story.

But, the Dell tech told me about the website and that's where I downloaded it..

Don't distribute it illegally, it costs us legit uses more in the long run.

 

Could you please send me the fast access software.

I live in China and I dont speak chinese. So is quite difficult to get hold of it.

Does this software work with Windows7?

Quite a few laptops here shipped without the software cd for facial recognition. I just called them up and asked them. They immediately sent the disc over to me with the webcam drivers (which too they hadn't sent out to any Dell SXPS user here in India)

Note: I have a SXPS 16, not a SXPS 13. It uses FastAccess facial recognition. Not sure what SXPS 13 uses though

The SXPS 13 also uses FastAccess facial recognition software, same as the SXPS 16.

FastAccess Facial recognition security software for Dell is now on build version 2.3.78..

 

Does it properly support Windows 7 yet? I recall some problems with it.

 

Requires V 2.4.4 or newer for proper Win7 support...

Multiple FA Icons are displayed in the Windows System Tray and or a message box appears stating “FaTrayAlert.exe” has stopped working.

Issue:
When logging into a password protected network share or drive, Windows Explorer may stop and restart itself. Windows Internet Explorer and all password protected web pages work normally.

Resolution:
Update to the current FastAccess version. V2.4.4 or newer contain the required changes.

As noted previously in this thread, the best way to get the FastAccess installation files is to call Dell tech support directly. If you are in the US or Canada, they can enable you to download them from Dell SmartSource. If not then they should be able to send you a replacement installation CD.

If you have difficulties with this process then feel free to send me a private message. I have had good luck using my Dell contacts to assist other people.

As mentioned, the Facial recognition security software is a paid option on some Dell laptops and bundled software on others(why its free only through Dell). Download of it of from a third-party site is a violation of copyright laws and we do not allow discussion of that nature, so thread closed.

The download is available from Dell via the http://downloadstore.dell.com/media or https://smartsource.dell.com for select countries. If you cannot download/access those websites, then contact Dell and they will be able to give you the disk as long as you are entitled to it.
