    Hi,
I recently purchased XPS 1210 with audigiy and its sounds amazing when ever I connect it to an external speaker...The volume and quality of my old speakers have increased tremendously.
But the problem is that when external speaker is not connected . the volume of the speaker is really low...Its hard to hear the dialouges if I am watching a movie...I checked every thing...volume, wave , seaker volume etc ...still the volume of the internal speakers is much lower than Dell Inspiron 700m that I own... Is every one facing the same problem or is it only me...Other than this I love this Lappy.

I have noticed when I run PowerDVD that the sounds volume drops and I have to kick it up. You may try and look to see if your player comes configured with an audio preset for headphones instead of a 2 speakers system or a 4 speaker system. It still runs quieter than if I was listening to music but it does help.

Unfortunately I no longer have the m1210 in hand, but I can say that the speakers for mine were just great and no volume issues whatsoever, so something is definitely up.

bump (sorry for bringing this post out from the dead) but I have the same exact problem. Also when I use my headphones, I have to put the volume at its lowest volume or else its going to blowout my ear drum. Anyone else with these issues? Thanks guys!

Yes, I have the same problem with the loud headphone volume, especially if using media direct. I use the bundled dell earbuds, I don't have a comparison but I think it maybe is an issue with them?

I dont have that problem, what do you have your speakers selected as? 2 speakers or headphones? I run 2 speaker and max gains with ac3

Also, Iceman do you have the same loud headphone issue with your dell earbuds? Media Direct for me is too loud even on the lowest setting with headphones, speakers are fine though

ac3audio filter, google it, its a program that give you much more control over your audio hardware, just download, intall, then use it to boost your gains, and your overall volume from your speakes will be signicantly louder and clearer

no I dont have that problem

If you don't have another laptop of reference, it may seem that the speaks sound fine, but you are right, they are quite sh*tty.

The suggestions brought about here are excellent (use a software solution to gain some volume), but the quality will always be very tinny.

Get a pair of external speakers and headphones when you need to do some "serious" listening. There's nothing else to do, just live with it! :)
