    Hi all,

I have xps m1330 (early 2008) with following specs:
    CORE 2 DUO T7250 2.00GHz,800,2M
    Memory Dual Channel 3.0GB (1X2GB + 1X1GB) 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM (PC2 5300)
Hard Drive 250GB Serial ATA (5400RPM)

I want to upgrade RAM and HD of this notebook and install windows 7 Home premium 64bit.

Crucial advisor suggested "Each memory slot can hold DDR2 PC2-5300, DDR2 PC2-6400 with a maximum of 4GB per slot."

I want to keep the on board 2GB and swap the other 1GB with 4GB. Now the question is should I go for DDR2 PC2-5300 or DDR2 PC2-6400?

My second question is I want to swap HD with Seagate Momentus XT 500GB Hybrid. Is this in order?

    Thanks in advance

The memory speeds probably won't be noticeable in most activities, but PC2-6400 should be slightly faster. What do you mean by "is this in order"? It will fit and should be a decent amount faster if that is what you are asking.

sorry, I mean Is it fine/compatible?

The 2GB stick already on board is PC2-5300. I was wondering if it would be compatible if the other one is PC2-6400.

    Thanks for the reply.

PM965 will not support DDR2-800, only 667 natively due to chipset limitations. DDR2-800 will work but it will automatically downclock to 667 speeds.

Any 2.5" 9mm SATA notebook drive will work. Best bets are like the Western Digital Scorpio Black 500 GB which can be occasionally found for 55-60 dollars.

I want to try seagate momentus XT hybrid SSD drive. Heard some good stuff about it.

Regarding RAM I will go for DDR2-667 if 800 is going to automatically downlclock.

I mean it's all up to you. Sometimes DDR2-800 RAM is more expensive, and sometimes it is the same price.

In all honesty, I installed the 500 GB MomentusXT in my now gone E6410, and I was sourly disappointed with it. It was rather pricey, hardly faster than my Scorpio Black 320 GB. Boot times were almost as slow as a traditional platter HDD. You can pick up a Scorpio Black 500 GB for half the price of the MomentusXT 500 GB.

I would also advise against the momentus XT. after experiencing stutter in games and even just playing music, I went back to the samsung 640gb 7200rpm that came with my xps.

Thanks for your suggestions. I will go for 500GB Western Digital.
