My brand new m1330 (I've had it less than a week) has been making a high pitched beeping noise completely randomly. I havn't noticed any pattern in when it makes the noise either, whether it be plugged in, on battery, plugged in without a battery, battery settings on power saver, battery settings on performance, none of it makes a difference.

The kind of beep seems random as well, sometimes it is a single beep, other times it is a few beeps strung together like a chirping noise.

Nothing happens on screen when the beeps occur either. I've done some googling, and cant find an answer to why its beeping.

I guess my primary concern would be if this is a problem, and if i need to contact dell about it. Or, if anyone else has experienced this, and whether or not there is an easy fix for it. Its kind of annoying, and I've gotten a few funky looks in class.

I had it with my i1520, and it still runs...so it does not seem to cause any problems.
It seems to be a problem with all Dells of this generation.

i got this since the moment i got the seagate 7200.3 with free fall sensor... for what i have read around seems like it is the free fall sensor... usually when u get the beep is when moving ur laptop, or when u turn off the computer it also beeps... i dont know if is the heads parking or some sort of warning the drive gives u cause its detecting movement.... but like they all said i had no problems, no bad sector no nothing...

came to the same conclusion, the sensor feels zero grav when moving or walking down stairs ( its actually funny, you can tell when im coming down because with every step down Therese a beep, beep ,beep, beep :D )

Its actually just your HD, but if its making noise even when not moving, then it must have some kind of hardware problem...

maybe some cable inside is not isolated corrrectly ..can cause small electric shoks....like unused cable for WWAN. or WPAN...
