After 2 new motherboards, an ac adapter, a hard drive, and RAM, I am done with my xps m1330. After all that, it still doesn't work - crashed for a while, now won't restart at all anymore.
I talked to a tech manager today and he said he would send me a refurbished studio xps (I think 1600) to replace my system.
Questions:
Is the studio xps 1600 any good?
Should I worry that it is refurbished?
Also, they said it would take 1 month to ship out. What?! Is this normal?
I left a voicemail for the manager to tell him to proceed with the replacement. But, he hasn't called me back. Should I just call the tech support number again, or be patient (this was a few hours ago).
After my horrible experience with my m1330, I am afraid of any model with the letters "xps" in them! After the refurnished model craps out, I am officially done with Dell computers. I feel foolish too because I have always defended Dell. I even started an "appreciation thread" about dell on this forum. I sure have egg on my face now.

There is no Studio XPS 1600. You may be referring to a Studio XPS 1640, 1645, or 1647 though. Though not quite the same, I'm perfectly happy with my Studio XPS 1340 and am happy with a refurbished desktop (Studio XPS 8000) received from Dell. The downsides with certain models of the SXPS 16 would be power throttling for certain models and note ahead of time that they do run warm. That one month delivery estimate seems kind of long though. I received my SXPS 9000 desktop in about 2 weeks.

Thanks...yes, it is the 1600 series. They don't know the exact one yet because they haven't checked out the specs of my current system. I have to see what happens because the manager keeps saying he'll call me back and never does. I have had to call everyday since Friday to get them to do antyhing.
