My old hp laptop just died on me a few days ago and am in dire need of a new laptop and I cant decide whether to go ahead and get the XPS m1330 or wait for the XPS studio 13 that looks like it will take weeks to receive and has very few reviews :(

I think the XPS m1330 looks like a good laptop and since it has been out a while now was hoping dell fixed most of the bugs. The only thing that really has me worried about this computer is all the fuss I've seen about the nvidia graphics card and all the problems it has caused.

Does anyone have any recommendations or thoughts on these computers?
    :)

I don't think you can go far wrong getting the XPS Studio 13. Aesthetically it looks much better IMO and of course the hardware is better without haing the potential GPU problems with the m1330.

One obvious thing is that the 1330 is older, and the Studio 13 is newer.

So, I would take that into serious consideration. Along with exactly what you want in your *build* for your uses, price points, etc. :D

I just ordered the Studio XPS 1340. I had purchased a 1330 at Best Buy, a few weeks ago for $900, but returned it because I was nervous about getting the run around for repairs between Best Buy and Del.

The 1340, starting at $1200 (I got a $200 gift-card back in addition, they might not offer it anymore, but if you call the rep, they might give you one), puts it nearly the same price as the older model. Plus, hopefully no NVIDIA probelms on it. And default comes with a default faster hard-drive, and, of course, the upgraded chipset stuff...

If you can wait until the end of the month -- which is when DELL said they were shipping mine -- it's a no-brainer, go with the newer platform.

If you need it quick, go for the m1330. Newly released models tend to get hit with a lot of manufacturing delays.

How do you guys think about the weight? I was little bit disappointed that it is heavier than most of 13'' laptop, including previous M1330. How much do you think that slim LCD and SSD can help to reduce some weight? 0.5 lb? And, what kind of SSD is used in Studio XPS 1340? Thx
