Any HAPPY xps m1330 owners out there that hasn't had much trouble with this laptop concerning GPU heat problems? Thinking of buying one because the new studio xps 13 costs a bit too much for me. I'm concerned about the heat thing and the bluescreeens though. And is it an outdated laptop? I'm a occasional gamer, not a heavy graphics freak, and I wanna be able to carry it around with me for lectures, using it for taking notes, movies and music. :)

    Mine's awesome. 100% failure free, and it's now 14 months old :)

Doesn't stop me wanting a Macbook pro though. I was going to order one earlier but chickened out. I really have no reason for a mac, I just want one :D

    Love my M1330. 11 months - 5-8 hours day - no problems.
Fast, light with a great screen. With discount pricing today I think they are a great value.

Love mine to bits. It's had two failures, first the screen just went odd (the LCD failed) and was replaced, then the GPU died.

I've since done the copper mod and hope that'll keep it from failing again (though I know it'll only extend it's life, not fix the underlying flaw). But yea, I think I'm one of the crazy few, as I'd buy another m1330 if I lost this one for some reason.

    mine's covered til 8/2012 :p.....

only thing wrong so far is that the dvd drive died (i think it might be because i spilled water onto the keyboard.. keyboard died too, but thats definitely my fault), dell tech came next day to replace it...

Mine's covered for another couple of years. Though I got the warranty in the UK and will need to transfer it to New Zealand in about 10 months time. Dell have said via email they'll do it, but it remains to be seen if they'll really do it.

I'm pretty happy with my M1330. There were signs of imminent GPU failure in the tenth month, but motherboard was swapped quickly by Dell.

I've re-applied the copper mod, and have warranty until March 2010, which means my GPU has warranty until March 2011.

I've been shopping around for a replacement, but always come back to my m1330 due to its style, performance, and small size.

happy with mine so far, even though i know there might be some issue

    i got 3dmark06 score of 1631, i am running on t5450, 4gb(3.5 gb recognized) 8400 gs

    cpuid:

    cpu: core0:70 degree max
    core 1: 71 degree max

    graphic max:101degree

is it over heating? i think my notebook was manufacturing on feb 2008, i know there's issue with m1330, but just can't resist the brand new price of 300 canadian dollor and warrenty until may 2010

i agree that 13.3" is a little too small for every day use, especially if its widescreen... i guess if we could get a 14.1" (something liek a T61p) with good features and similar weight, it'd be good

i enjoy the portability i guess... and i dual screen in my dorm, so screen estate isnt a huge problem(u can get a 19" LCD for less than $100).... even thinking of a internet tablet/netbook for portable internet browsing

I HATE it and its WHINING noise. I don't know if mine is just so much louder than others or if my ears are just too sensitive, but the CPU whine is KILLING me! It has gotten worse lately and Dell won't do anything about it!

I'm typing from my M1330 right now. Have had it over a year now and have not had one single problem with it. I did have to replace the keyboard, but that was my fault for spilling coke on it. I have it dual booting Vista 64 and XP Pro 32. I mainly use the Vista boot and use the XP boot for school work (some programs I need for school will not run on 64bit.) Games run fairly well on it as well (WoW, Fallout 3). It does everything I need a laptop to do and its mobile friendly.

I love my M1330. The gpu failed once but 72 hours later dell sent a tech out with a new motherboard. I take mine with me to school a lot and I use it when I travel.
